Akureyri Museum
Well designed exhibitions and the beautiful museum garden with its 19th century church is not to be missed if you visit Akureyri. The exhibitions provide the visitor with ample information in various forms and themes equally about the history of fjord from settlement and but also the history of Akureyri and its development from the 19th century.
Over the wintertime the museum is open every saturday from 14-16. But between now and May 22nd the museum is closed due to preparations for the opening of our summer exhibition. We look forward to seeing you then!Admission: ISK 600
Exhibitions
Eyjafjörður from the settlement.
An interesting exhibition with artifacts from the settlement period (874-1000) to the reformation era. The artifacts are on loan from the National Museum.
Akureyri - the town by the bay.
The exhibition depicts in different themes how Akureyri has developed as a town since the early 19. century.
The Summer Exhibition2010:
TREASURE - Twenty Photographers in Akureyri and Surroundings 1858-1965 Eyjafjordur in the early period.

The museum manages the old turf farm Laufás which is open from 30th of May daily from 9 am - 5pm.
Special events arranged by the Museum include: historical walks, an evening of song in the museum church, market day at Laufás, Christmas preparations at Laufás etc.
